Distributor cap 1996 Corrola

Where is the distributor cap on a 1996 Toyota Corrola LE?

I need to pressure wash the engine to look for an oil leak and the mechanic said it was okay as long as I avoided the distributor cap.

I don't know, but follow the plug wires. The distributor is on the other end. It should look something like this.

Wouldn't it be easier to hit it with engine degreaser or something, though?

-Well if your '96 Corolla is anything like my Mother-in-law's '92 Paseo, the distributor is on the side of the head. When you are standing in front of the car, it should be on the right hand side between the valve cover and the air filter box. Look at this pic. You can follow the plug wires along the top of the valve cover to the right where they end at the distributor. You can wrap a plastic shopping bag around it and spray everything else. Just don't spray directly on any wiring connectors.

I always like to wash an engine while it is running, just dont shoot the water jet into the air intake and make sure all of the filter housings are in place, and all electrical connections are in place properly and everything should be fine. best wishes, ray
