Simple computer drawing program

I need to draw some plans for a room remodel and I really would like to use my computer rather than pencil and paper. But I can't find a program that can do it without needing to take 6 months to learn to use the program.

All I want is a program that will let me draw straight lines, move said straight lines, make 90 degree angles with the lines and have a 'snap to' grid I can adjust to whatever scale I want so I don't have to try to line the ends of the lines up by eye!

Is there such a program out there?

The very first Adobe Pagemakers were like that. Find the Serif software Pageplus site and browse some of their free older stuff Version 3 of Pageplus was very similar.

just do a google search for free cad or drawing programs and you will find plenty. I have several, started with autocad but it was real expensive, $600 I believe for the first one, and now they are a dime a dozen, but autocad is still best? well it sure does alot. but for your needs a free one will be fine. besides you need to go to classes to learn autocad, or use it with a great big set of large books, best wishes, ray

Have you tried Google Sketchup? It's free...

Inkscape is an option...the interface is pretty intuitive and drawing simple shapes/lines is easy, even to very precise dimensions. It'll do a LOT more if you're willing to put in the time to learn it.

Google Sketchup is a good program, but, IMO, has a higher learning curve. You can use it to draw in 2D, but it really shines when used to draw in 3D.

I have and use both...they're a lot of fun.
