8 Inch Plastic or PVC RINGS

I'm tinkering with building a glovebox and need some ideas where I can find plastic or PVC rings somewhat like these:

I guess I could fabricate some if it came down to it, but if I could find some ready-made for a good deal that would be better. The ones in the picture are actually ceiling mounting rings for speakers. I need 4 that are either plastic or PVC as there would be nitrile gloves rubbing against them. Any ideas would be helpful. I just can't seem to have any luck locating anything like what I need. Probably just too tired to realize where I should be looking. Or maybe someone has a better idea for attaching the gloves through opening?? Either way, time for me to head to bed.

Look up "plastic culvert" locally and you should be able to get fittings that can be adapted to work. Maybe through a good building supply place or you might have to go to a drainage contractor or municipality for their supplier.

I was thinking "Glovebox? Like in a car?"

All you want is a flange. If the front side of your glove box is thick enough, just cut off a short length (3 or 4 inches) of PVC pipe, drill four holes in it, and use a short screwdriver to attach it to a hole cut in the front with a sabersaw, using panhead screws. Then seal it in place with silicone caulk.

The gloves are supposed to fit a 8 - 9 inch glove port. This is what a real glove port looks like:

Just cut your hole, screw it together and attach your gloves. How simple would that be?

We have a local guy that does work for the city. Maybe he could come up with something suitable to fit. I searched for "pvc flange", "plastic flange", "pvc collar", "plastic collar" and many variations thereof. Finding an 8 inch one is harder than it first seems. I guess I could get away with a smaller opening, I'd just have to go further up the sleeve of the glove to secure it ( and lose some length of total reach in the process).

I'm almost convinced there has to be something else out there already fabricated that would work.... haha Just as I was writing that, I thought, how about cutting off the top of one of DW's plastic flour storage containers and cutting a hole through the lid. I'm going to be in sooo much trouble if I can find the right size.

You're looking for something like a bulkhead fitting for tanks. I found 6" PVC http://www.etanks.com/products/detai...productid=3662
http://www.assmann-usa.com/Flange_Fittings.htm
8" I've only found in metal

I made a trip to Lowe's tonight and found something that I think will work. Don't know what exactly they are used for, but the receipt lists them as 4" PVC Over Pipe Flange. The 4" was the largest I could find that looked like it would work. My upper arm fit through with room to spare for the gloves (guess you can tell I'm not a professional bodybuilder ) so I thought I would give them a try, hoping the sleeves would wrap over the outside neck without too much slack. Got home and tried everything out. Here's how it's looking.

A few rubber bands should be all I need to keep the gloves secure enough while working inside the glovebox. I'm guessing the next challenge will be finding out how far my holes should be apart to be comfortable and still being able to get the best reach inside the box. The smaller port holes will make it a little more of a challenge with maneuverability. One more step closer to home-grown Portobello and Shiitake mushrooms.
