Wiper switch on '95 chev pickup

The wiper switch on my truck is acting up. The intermitants work fine, but if I turn the wipers to full "on" position they will not shut off. After I turn the ignition off with the wiper switch in the off position they will shut off when I restart the truck, if the truck has been off for a few minutes. The swirch assembly includes the cruise control, which works fine.

Is this a hard or expensive part to replace?

Hi tinknal,
I don't recall the exact cost off hand, I want to say about 80 to 90 bucks or so, it didn't break the bank account...but on my 94 Silverado it was the circuit board that is located on the wiper motor itself. An easy fix too, not something that required a trip to the repair shop.

My 92 Siverado wipers were going nuts. Either wouldn't start or wouldn't stop, etc. I finally took it to a shop and the blind mechanic fixed it with a new circuit board. It was several years ago but I think it was $30-40. He said he had replaced hundreds of circuit boards and only two motors since that style wipers came out.

I had a 94 Chevy that did the same thing. The maintenance dept at the trailer plant had 50 of them to maintain and the helper there showed me how to putthe jumper wire on the circuit. Cost a whopping 45 cents

Dad has a 97 S-10 and had the same problem. If I'm not mistaken, this is the only problem he has ever had since buying the truck new, and it has over 130,000 miles on it.

Dad used the jumper wire trick to for many years.

The circuit board was the problem on his. I think they are even cheaper than $30 these days. These should be widely available as an aftermarket part.

Ebay? Junkyard?

Circuit board on the wiper motor, very common. GM did have a recall or a compensation deal on these years back, wouldn't cost anything to ask the dealer. Any auto parts store will stock the part. Last one I bought was a Dorman brand.

Ditto what Beeman said. Check with your local GM dealer, chances are that truck was never repaired under the recall and the fix will cost you nothing but about five minutes of your time.
