Is there anything thatll seal a PS unit

Onna DD. I dont know if I can afford to replace it right now, and just wondered if there was anything that would seal it for a couple months.

short answer is ...no
All the stop leaks and other homegrown leak stops never work.
Can you get a replacement from a junkyard?

Yeah, I can get a replacement, but, and especially with a PS unit, if its been setting for quite awhile, then I take the chances that they seals are dried in it also.

TS. Ive heard that too. Guess ill try it for a bit.

The folks that own older Jaguar autos claim that there is a Lucas product that will stop the leakage. I understand there is a money back guarantee that it will work.

Have a caution with just using atf, a number of power steering systems today are not compatable with it, and you can ruin the pump and the steering rack. Make darn sure yours is in fact compatable before adding.

Well, I guess the appropriate question is
Whats leaking?
There are several different items associated with the standard PS.
Low pressure hose, easy fix,
HIgh pressure hose, easy fix
Hose connections, if not stripped easy fix
Power steering fluid reservior, could be an easy fix
Power steering pump or gear box, not easy to very difficult.

All that being said, I have never heard of any product that would stop a leak in its entirity as most of the PS system is under increased pressure

I dont think I have given any real help but maybe a couple things to look at and eleminate..........

Talking

Just did a swap out on the wifes 2000 Durango. For just over $40.00 you can get a rebuilt one with out a reservior. I paid the extra and got the complete unit. borrow the pully removal kit it is just pressed on. A 14 MM socket removes all the nuts and bolts except one and a 14 MM box wrench fits that one(tight area). A 18 MM line wrench removes the pressure line and hose clamp pliers removes the return line. Job takes about a hour and a half to complete and the pully taking the longest.

New one has a life time warrenty too. Nope hers wasn't leaking it kept locking up.

Try the Lucas product and if it doesn't work get your money back. I was dubious of the product but the Jaguar guys that have the 12 cylinder coupes say it will work on seals which I think is your problem.

I don't Know how much I poured in this 88 ford I'm driving, 2 or 3 bottles maybe more, but it did quit leaking. It will squeal for a bit when its cold.
