New Wheels 93 Ply Voy Mini-Van

1400 dollars got me a 93 ply voy van with 3.0 en. that has a slight ticking for about 15 seconds upon starting after that goes aways and runs smooth. Oil looks fresh so maybe it'll be okay. Doesnt smoke. I haven't used it long enough to see if it uses fluids. 124,000 miles, one owner, FLA car garage kept until 2 years ago. Body and interior are almost perfect. Have all maint records. After several bad used cars I need a trouble free car for several years. I hope this is it. Can you help me figure my mileage on my delivery route. I drove 230 miles and used 12.545 gallons of gas at 2.779. in the last 2 days. How many miles per gallon am I getting?

Miles divided by gallons. You got 18 mpg.

What kind of oil filter on it? Some cheap and some not so cheap filters (that are made cheaply) have faulty check valve. Put a WIX oil filter (also sold under NAPA brand) or top of line Purolator oil filter on it. See if that stops the ticking. Hey its cheap cure if it works. Dont even have to change the oil, just put on new filter, start the car, let it idle bit until oil light goes out, turn it off and top off the oil to MAX on dipstick. Then see if you get the ticking next time you start up.
