Since you cured the "almost" Cub... page two

I've had numerous problems with this little guy since the day I bought it new in 04, but the most annoying has been loss of speed... unless going down a 30 degree embankment of course. Is it normal for a mower to just all of a sudden one day to go from (guessing) 12 MPH to 6 MPH with the throttle in the same position, and never regain the higher speed again?

I don't go fast anyway, but it is a bit odd to me that this thing seemingly has a mind of it's own. My back was broken in 1995 so this mower is imperative to me doing my chores in all kinds of whether... from hauling wood up the hill, dragging hay bales, to basic mowing. In the 7 years that I've had it, it has had a tree dropped on it, rolled it, flipped it (twice), and it refuses to start if the temperature is 27 degrees and below (which is another annoyance).

Nope, not normal. But it sounds to me like you may have accidentally tossed it from the high range into the low range.

Sounds to me as if you bought a lawn tractor instead of a ATV or compact tractor. Lawn tractors are made for that mowing lawns.
Ya's get what ya pay for.

Probably true, but you know how well Social Security pays... and it's only going to get worse.
