Dakota trailer hitch wiring

Howdy folks. Just put a hitch on our "new" 1999 Dakota 4x4 and need help installing the wiring. I am splicing. I don't have a circuit tester to tell me what wire is what. I have 4 wires to deal with. They are: green with red stripe, solid black, black with yellow stripe, and purple with black stripe. The wiring I bought to put on the truck has green for the right turn signal, yellow for the left turn, white for the ground, and 2 brown wires for the taillights. Do the 2 browns go to each side? What I need to know is what colors go to what colors. Can someone help me out? Please and thank you very much.

Ok, was going to tell you, but now I won't..

If the truck is in good condition it should last a long time. My '99 Dodge Dakota 4x4 has 225,000 miles on it and still runs like a charm, except I got a loose oxygen sensor and can't figure out where the wiring is loose at or which of the 3 (I've only found 2 of them) sensors it is.. Anyway it is running a little rough right now. Also you may encounter some heating or lack of heat problems..

Anyway, I wouldn't trade mine except for another/newer Dakota. This coming from someone that always had full sized chevys

Next time, just buy a Hoppy T-Connector for your particular make and model of vehicle. It simply plugs right into the factory wiring harness that is usually tucked up into the rear bumper. No cutting or stripping of wires. Takes a few seconds and instant trailer wiring.
