Car hauling?

Ok guys and gals. I have a problem and I hope someone on here can help.

My 82 Jeep Wagoneer lost it's transfer case near Shreveport, LA a couple weeks ago. We parked it at a relatives house and came back here to NC where we are moving.

We need to get the Jeep here. Does anyone on here do car hauling? Is anyone planning a trip from somewhere out thataway to this area that could load it up and bring it here for us?

Any help, ideas, suggestions, etc., would be much appreciated. We really need to get it home.

Thanks everyone.

Deb.

Do you know anyone in your area that races? Most people that have a race car have a trailer. Many could use a few bucks especially the way things are. Ask around at any performance parts stores or possibly auto restoration shops or suppliers. Ask your local tow truck driver, they will go get it for you. Ask used car dealers as they have auto transport arranged when they purchase cars at auction. Possibly contact an auto auction down there and see if a transporter will pick it up and deliver it to you.

..............One other idea , see if you can find a used 2 wheel car dolly(rent or purchase) maybe on craigs list . Since the xfer case is gone you probably won't even have to remove the drive shaft . With a car dolly just about any half ton pickup can pull the jeep . , fordy

Thanks everyone. There are lots of options once we started looking around. We do not have access to a pickup of any kind right now and we've not been here long enough to know anyone well enough to feel comfortable asking to borrow a truck.

We put a request on uship.com and have someone that's supposed to give us a quote this evening. We also have a good quote from a hauler out of Fla that we might go with. Hopefully we can have this thing home in the next couple of weeks.

If it works out cost-wise, verses uship, you could always rent a small rental truck to pull a car dolly.

You can rent a small truck and trailer from Uhaul but you probably wont beat Uships quotes.

I did price a uhaul with a car hauler, they will not let us use a dolly for this vehicle. The uhaul price is almost 2 times the cost of the lowest quote we've gotten from a hauler. And that does not include the gas to drive out there and/or the cost of a plane or bus ticket to get out there. We've gotten 2 quotes we think are affordable and have 1 more we're waiting on before we decide.
