need help and hope this is the right place

Ok, I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500 van, it's got around 145000 miles on it.

It's been really cold here in AL and I don't really go anywhere unless I need to, trip to town or Church really. But since this weather has hit, when I do get in the van and try to put it into gear it's stuck. The van seems to need to warm up a bit then suddenly it will let go and works just fine. It does take oh probably 5-10 minutes before it does let go.

Could there be a more serious problem here or is this just related to the cold weather? It has not ever done this before, it also has been this cold either. We've lived up here for 5 years now.

Thank you.

First check the fluid. Be sure you check it in the proper gear as indicated in the service manual or on the dipstick. I'm not up to date on those vans. Chrysler did have a slow engagement problem on some of the older ones and it was just the fluid draing back and taking longer to get circulating, the fix was a check valve.
Try this..Start the van and then put it in neutral and wait a few minutes, then put it into gear and see what happens. Do check the fluid first.
