Question Clip-on welder's shades for prescrip glasses

Does anyone know of the availability of clip-on shades for prescription glasses - ones that filter both ordinary and UV light sufficiently to use them while brazing with oxy-acetylene equipment?

Not wanting to pay an arm & a leg through an optometrist to have a prescrip pair of specialy glasses made (probably cost $200, frames being included).

I'm interested in something a bit darker in shade than the standard beach-wear clip-ons available readily at drugstores, etc.

I do have a set of goggles that go on over my glasses, but these are a bit clunky - and seem to be overkill for just brazing or soldering with the o/a torch.

on this site they have some flip up shades that attach to your glass. They are a #3 shade. They probaly have a #5 too. They were $9.95. I had a welding instruter that used them for brazing.

Hey, thanks, Moocow. Those look to be what I am interested in - if they come in #5 shade. Only real trouble is, I'm not sure the company is still operating. The Web site functions, but their phone menu gets you absolutely no-place. I've tried four calls there at different times.

I wonder if these hard times turned the company belly-up?!

So, I'd be interested in any other sources that you guys here can recommend.

Did a little looking for you and found a set of shade #5 for $25. The link should take you to them.
