How do you ....

Our vcr went out; so we purchased a new one. We need help connecting it as the cost of getting a professional to do it is just out of the question. (Also, since I lost the receipt, we cannot return it.)

The old vcr "was" connected to the same TV we are trying to connect this one to and all worked fine for several years. We tried to connect this one to same places on TV; but it did not work.

We read the "Owner's Manual" and even called the 800 number in an attempt to get this new vcr connected. Nothing seems to make sense as both the manual and the man at 800 number spoke of connecting the wires to TV, yet did not talk about which places on the TV to connect the wires to. (This TV has multiples of places with same color codes and different names/letters/numbers on them than the owner's manual or man at 800 number spoke about.)

This is the set up we have:

An outdoor antenna hooked up to an "Analog Pass-through DTV Converter Box" (model DTX9950) that hooks up to an Apex Digital TV.

This Apex Digital TV has many many places to attach wires to in the back.

The new vcr is a Magnavox DVD Recorder & 4 Head Hi-Fi Stereo VCR (model #ZV427MG9") having an "owner's manual" for "ZV427MG9 ! Digital Video Disc Recorder & Video Cassette Recorder".

We spent hours trying to understand how to connect it to the Television, even trying each of the multiple places apparently for hooking up "something".

Can anyone in here help us?

im assuming the vcr has RCA cables(red, yellow, white) find on the TV not the converter box the rca jacks(again red yellow white) that are for input. your tv might have inputs on the front too. plug them into the first available inputs. and then u can just turn your tv chanels down below 3 or 1 whichever your lowest channel is and you will have video or aux chanells. one of these will be your vcr. if you have problems with it. you can pm me and ill call u and talk u through it.

Hello Travis,

Thank you so much for responding. I arose this morning to find my son had managed to get it connected properly. All is working fine now.
