fixing the edge of a dinning room table.

I picked up a good looking used round dinning room table but it has a lot of wear on the edge which seems to be . The problem is the edge has sort of a ogee shape to it AND it looks like it some type of edge trim.

I'm not a woodworker but I do know there is an edge trim you can iron on straight edge but do they have anything you can use on a covered edge and if so where do you find it?

Are you certain that the edge is a separate piece from the main table. Most round tables have just had the edge milled in some manner. Why not get a similar router bit as the current shape and just skim the edge with a router and see if the edge doesn't clean up?

You have several choices depending
You can rout the edge square and then rout a new edge. Restain and finish the edge to match or contrast. Your choice
If its painted and chipped you can fill the edge with bondo and sand or rout to fit the existing

There are rubber moldings know as T-moulding and they come in many shapes and forms. You still have to rout a slot for the "tail" to fit in.

is it a solid wood table or is it pressboard with plastic trim on the edge?
