This looks handy

Skidsteer style Logsplitter
Looks like a handy tool. If you own a skidsteer already, the skidsteer provides the hydraulic power to run splitter, and the means of moving it about to location you wish to split wood at. 'Tis the season.

Not in the budget but I'd luv one. I saw one where the splitter could rotate upside down so you could grab logs or split them where they lay. Far more expensive though. Terrific site those rubber tracks are the best I've ever seen

I dunno. For that price you could buy a self-contained model from Northern Tool. I wonder what the fuel consumption would be on the skid steer vs a self-contained splitter? Could you use the skid steer model in the vertical position? Of course, maybe you wouldn't have to because you could probably almost set the skid-steer splitter on the ground to split the big rounds.

Once you buy the mounting plate which is usable with a lot of other attachments the log splitter becomes more affordable. http://www.skidsteersolutions.com/Sk...z-mount-01.htm

If you are traveling some distance to a woodlot , I can see where a two wheel trailer model with a self contained engine may be more convenient. Probably easier to hook a two wheel trailer model behind a pickup and drive to woodlot than to transport a skidsteer to woodlot.
Of course lots of folks haul wood to home base and then do the splitting there.

Good to have different options available I guess.

Here is one offered by a Wisconsin Farm Equipment Dealer, Swiderski Equipment at Wausau, WI Store. www.swiderskiequipment.com
Featured in the Oct. 9 Agri-View Newspaper.

Skidsteer Style Log Splitter, 25" opening ... $999
