Thats the serial number.
There should also be a model number, probably on the barrel
Also the overall condition makes a huge difference in value on uses guns

What is the model number, could be a model 12, being that you said the blueing is worn. Look on left side of the barrel. Value is also dictated by condition. Got any pictures to post?

You can check; www.gunbroker.com or www.gunsamerica.com to get an idea what your shotgun is selling for. I may be interested in it if it is a model 12, that's why pictures would be of help.

its not in bad shape, ive shot it. Im sure a collector would like to give it a little tlc. I shot 1 snake with it, and surprised a neighbor with it, and thats about it. LOL I really could use the money and I would rather it go to someone on HT. I dont know what to ask for it yet, like you all said theres so many factors that decide the price. I do know the serial number , and that it was manu. in 1924 according to those numbers. Im still looking for more info.

info
on the barrel just above the pump, mostly left side their should be some writing and numbers giving more info as to model, gauge, chamber length. Just glancing at it it appears to be 1950-thru 1970's manufacture.

Okay that explains why, from what I could see in your pictures, the forearm, trigger guard and stock didn't look like a Model 12. Model 1200s were introduced in 1964 and the last made in 1981. Your serial number showed a manufacture date of 1924, which would be correct if your shotgun was indeed a Model 12, but it is a 1200.
