round bale belts

I started up the hesston 5600 today and found that a couple of belts like to wander. I went through the bearings and adjusted the only adjustment I could find. The only thing else I can find is some belts have been repaired before. I am thinking some are tighter than others.
Any ideas?

You may have to take the belts off and "resize" them , so that they are all the same length. I usually had to do that about every year or two. Depending on how many times the belts have been repaired. I'm not sure the difference between the 5600 and the 5500. The 5500 had a tendency to cross belts on the top roller, not a fun thing to straighten out on a hot day. I usually baled somewhere around 750 bales a summer.

Tracking belts is done by adjusting the tension on one side or the other. Tighten the side that you want the belt to move away from.

Also, check the belt lacing. If it is beginning to tear away or wear through the pin, it might wander.

A worn out belt may start to wander as well, and at that point the only thing you can do is replace it.

I know that the belts from the tractor dealer can be outrageously expensive. If that is the case with yours, find an industrial conveyor belt supplier that can match your belts with the right kind of material. You can make your own at a fraction of the price I've seen them go for at a dealer.

TSC sells bulk belting and lace kits. Not cheap but lets you resize your old belts and make any you want. A long term investment in a money saving tool. When I had a belt baler I also had a neighbour with a kit. Very useful.
