Troy-bilt parts

I need some help from the experts. I have a late 70s model Troy-bilt tiller, what a great machine. Last evening while installing the generator attachment I broke the slip coupling on the end of the PTO shaft. My question is where can I buy replacement parts? The engine parts are avalible locally but I am afraid this coupling is going to be a challenge. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Keith

The coupling is a commercial one. Most parts dealers only find parts that you have a part number for so lots of luck their. If you can find engine parts you can also find the slop coupling locally.

troy bilt parts

Check the Internet to see if parts are available first. Second stop would be a lawnmower shop. Third stop would be a NAPA dealer. Our NAPA store goes out of their way to find hard to find parts. We also have Autozone and Advance auto parts store but they are not very helpful unless you are looking for a car part and can give make, model, year, etc.

Thanks for the help. I can post a picture after I get it out but I was able to find drawings and the part at milacalawn.com. it is called a pto dog, pricey little kit but it is a real deal to get this machine going again.

tulsa engine warehouse has most of the parts you would want for the cheapest prices out there.

And you can order directly from Troybuilt too but their now owned by MTD. But MTD bought out all the warehoused parts for the older stuff.

I own a 79' troybilt horse model and worked on a good many others as well. I have always had good service ordering directly from troybilt. Hopefully, that has not changed with the purchase by MTD. Do a search on the net for troybilt homepage or see a troybilt dealer and get them to order it (avoid the fustration of the big box store dealers and seek an outdoor power equipment dealer who sells parts). They are fine old machines worth the effort to keep them going.
