I know the six cyl Cummins with their "pressure timed fuel delivery" system could leak around the injector and cause that (been there and done that several times) and although rare (since as I recall, Detroit uses a dedicated feed and communal return line to each injector), I suppose an injector cup seal could result in return pressure fuel entering the coolant at the head. As long as you aren't getting coolant in the oil (head gasket), the injector seal is the only place I can see fuel and coolant mixing. Since the return fuel is still under greater pressure than the coolant, path will be fuel to coolant and not coolant to fuel (resulting in the tale/tale white exhaust plume). Fuel in the oil could be damaged pump shaft seal. What are the specs on your engine and I'll dig out the old manuals? My only experience with Detroit(s) is the old Silver 71 series and their woefully inadequate initial attempts at converting gasoline 350 V-8 engines.....
