Sharpening tiller blades

Does anybody sharpen their tiller blades. If you do do you sharpen them square of to a point.. Or do you need to sharpen them at all. Maybe I just have tough weeds. They seem to just wind around and come right back up.

My tiller tines tend to sharpen themselves and wear away. I need to build them up with weld to prolong their life.

Hey.

For a garden, weedwack the area first before you use the tiller. It will cut down on the weedy long stuff wrapping around.

Supposedly, tiller blades are self-sharpening. IF you were to sharpen them as you would a lawnmower blade, I think it would be detrimental to the tiller blade because then the blade would tend to "nick" much easier.

just my 2 pesos worth,

Sounds like you just need a plow. If your running over that rough of ground a tiller will never get the job done.

My late uncle used to cut pieces of leaf springs to make cutting surfaces on mowers and the like. Should work with tiller blades as well.

He was an expert welder. I've never tried it. Not that great a welder

I wouldn't try the mower but the slow speed of a tiller should be OK
