Oliver 1255

There's a 1974 Oliver model 1255 for sale down the road. It has the front loader, 11.5' back hoe, 6' rotatiller, 5' brush hog, 3 bottom plow and a back blade all for 9500.00. I am trying to see how much hp this has and if it would handle a round baler. I can't seem to find anything on the web

Does anyone have any information on this model?

Oh sure...make it look easy

Thank you VERY much! I guess it isn't a 1974 like they said though.

That sounds like too good a deal, what is wrong with it?????

Would handle a small square baler fine; would be real light hp for a round baler, some folks do so with that hp on a small 4x4 round - even flip the gearbox on a few models of baler to slow it down - but is kinda pushing it for getting useful work done.

That looks like the right one. I'm not sure what is wrong with it. I didn't look it over mechanically, just stopped by it and looked it over real quick. I know a tractor mechanic to take along with me to look it over really well if I were to buy it.

I'm kind of in a toss up with tractor options. My mother wants to sell step-dad's (past away) backhoe, dump truck, trailer and massey t-30(?) to get a better mid-size tractor that she can hop on and go if she wants. She also wants it to be big enough to pull a round baler because these days, finding help to do square bales is next to impossible.

For your safety and for efficiency I would go to a larger tractor if you will be operating a round baler.
