69 Lincoln wiring harness

Some jerk tried to steal my old Lincoln, could not raise the hood past the wind catch, and tried to burn it. The fire put itself out but the harness is shot plus distributor cap/wires. The belts and intake were burned also. Who has parts? Whitney does not--any other venders that you know?? Thanks wc

Cap, rotor, wires, belts, and hoses should be able to be found at any parts store. The intake should be fine. As far as the wiring harness.... well your up a creek. Very few places make wiring for Fords, unless it is something very popular such as a Mustang. You could take the time and rebuild the harness yourself. Find the connectors you need at the junk yard and solder new wire of the same gage in.

It can be a real pain in the butt, but I have had to do it before. I spent a day going to different junkyards untill I found the connectors I needed. Got a wiring diagram and went to town. Cut, soldered, sealed, and wrapped. Looks good as new and worked just fine.

Thanks, did not think about E bay. Buck, was hating to think about unwrapping/splicing/rewrapping but may have to. Have done it on other vehicles but this thing has a bunch of wires in the harness. Sure would love to find out the turkey who tried to burn it. Might do a "Buford Purser" on him to the point of a bloody mass of quivering flesh and then toss salt on him. Does that sound like I am a violent person??? Sure would like to kick him in the shin about fifty times though, wc

I am such a dummy. Have a 69 Jeep Commando and got the numbers confused. The Lincoln is a '79 Mk V. Found a supplier of parts for a 69 on Ebay but now will go back and try again. Sorry for the false info and thanks for all the help. Will probably give it to my son for a graduation present next year. He will have to come up with the gas money--should limit his travels that way. That 460 4V will put a crimp on his $$$s in a hurry. Putting him in a Grand Am till then. That way I can afford the gas. Thanks again,wc

Heck if it's a 1979, I'd be looking in the junkyards. I don't know where you are at but I have seen a few around here. I was just looking at a 70's Lincoln just the other week. Thinking of grabing the 460 out of it for a truck I'm building. Any way the junk yard may be on a national data base and can try and find it somewhere else in the US. You pay for shipping and part. Then your set!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I'm doing a (slow) ground up custom build of a 1978 F-250 4X4. My 76 F-150 is starting to have major cab issues and being a half ton I need something a little heaver and larger breaks. So I'm hoping to have the F-250 done sometime before I die. I'm thinking about building an older 460 and getting a newer ZF5 5speed trans to put behind it. The 87-97 F-250 and 350 had this trans. At least that's the plan for now.

Borg-Warner makes a fine tranny that just goes and goes. Have gone through several New Process transmissions. I have a '78 parked(I think 78)that I got for parts. If you need anything off it just holler. We will be having a gathering/rally in Oct near Rockingham NC. Come over and look at it while here. It is a 250 also.
