Leaky washer

I just got a new-used washer that is probably about 15-20 years old, but runs like champ and really gets the dirty clothes clean again, the bad thing is, it leaks pretty badly, which is why I got rid of the last machine.

I have ckecked all of the hose connections and they are fine, the water appears to be coming from inside somewhere. Does anyone have any experience taking a washer apart? Does anyone have a good notion of where I could start diganosing the problem? I only spent $25 for the washer, but I can't justify replacing it unless it is truly a lost cause!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Check the Links Library for an appliance repair site, put in the make, model, ect for info.

If you can supply the manufacturer and model number of the washer then maybe we could come up with some suggestions but if we don't know if it is a wringer type, top loader or front loader then we are as much in the dark as you are.

Any chance this machine is a Maytag?
