Is a metal roundtop shed safer than a house?

With all the recent tornado activity I was wondering if a heavy duty steel round top shed would be safer than a normal one level house in a tornado. I've always heard dome houses were safer than square ones but I'm not sure that's a fact. I would appreciate your comments.

Reality is almost nothing above ground is safe from a direct hit of even a "weak" tornado

The only true safe shelter is below the surface

A steel building might be less likely to suffer as much damage in a "near miss".

I don't really think one would be safer over the other. Below ground is best.

Are you talking about the very heavy (thick) self supporting Quanset hut type buildings that sit on a concrete foundation? They are very tough buildings large pleated panels, all bolted together, problem with them is the door as a shop. If you installed industrial walk in doors they would be a lot stronger than wood construction. Make sure and attach the building well to the concrete and make the floor and foundation wall one unit....James

I've seen tornadoes peel black top of the highway. I would think any building built aerodynamicly would benifit in high wind and near tornado misses.

I would not want to be any were there was steel sheets of steel roofing that can blow or get torn off and then cut a person in to like buzz saw, proper build safe room in a house would be better in my opinion

IN ground is best normally

some safe rooms
