Welded wire fencing

Hey folks,

Looking to fence in our front yard and garden this spring. I have settled on Welded wire fencing as it seems the best compromise of strength and cost... but... I've never installed it... Best techniques? Each fence set will be 300 feet total. How do you connect it to steel posts? Best way to stretch it?

For the garden, ya'll think rabbits will dig under it?

they make a moulded wire clip. here you get so many when you buy post and you can buy extra. on 300ft id do 2 corner and a stretch post in the center. attach to one corner go to stretch take 2 1x4 the height of your fence and bolt to the fence one on either side attach a chain at top and bottom of 1x4. use truck, tractor, 4 wheeler, come a long whatever to stretch wire. watch as wire slides along post it will catch on the 'bumps' on the post. once tight attach to pull post. go to end and repeat. do goog solid corners or they will lean and allow wire to sag. good luck

thank you,

this is very helpful. I hadn't thought about putting a pull post in the middle. Also, how far should I put the posts apart? I had thought about doing every other wood post, metal post for extra strength. Is that necessary? The goats will be in the front yard to mow

Think that'll be strong enough to hold in goats? I guess there will a string of electric running along the inside, so they really should be leaning into it anyway.

Thanks for your help.
