Finally got the Dory restored and running. Done with a couple shake down runs, all known bugs worked out. Now it's time to go kill some salmon. Only 11 in the box so far this season. But anything goes starts up Sept 1st. Any salmon is a keeper wild or not. Every Fri and Mon off in Sept.
Two years in the making and I am back in the game. I miss running a dory. Nothing better than backing right in the surf and letting the boat loose. Drive fast up above the high tide line to park. Run back down to the boat. Spin it bow to the rock, push into waist deep water, jump in, fire off the motor and go.
Last weekend was 13 to 15 pound silvers. By Sept they should have another pound or two on them. They really are a good time, acrobatic little buggers. Then after the salmon box is full on to the bottom dwellers, ling cod and rock fish, end the day pulling crab pots.
Boy did I miss this. The last boat went away under disparaging circumstance. This Dory is here to stay. A 22' Vik's, restored, re powered and chomping at the bit to eat the surf.
Here's a couple short videos.
Good fishing to everyone this season.
