Planning for future hunts.

I about died this last weekend!!!!

I drove about a mile and a quarter up the road from me to check on a treestand I have set up out in the woods. I didn't have to walk too far and could see that it was still their from a distant and in fine shape. So I quickly walked back to the jeep to leave and come back home on. I got in the jeep and my darn battery was dead.(I need to get a new one)

Well being it was a Sunday morning I figured just about everybody I know nearby was probably at church.(where I should have been) So I decided well I got my backpack in the backseat, why don't I just take a hike through the woods and eventually head back home and then later on in the afternoon when my daughters get home, I'll have the oldest one give me a jumpstart with her car. So I headed out. I walked a 1/4 mile straight south and crossed the black top road. Then I kept walking straight south about another 1/4 mile till I dropped off into this big holler and took a right. Then walked approximatel 1 mile west through the woods and streams til I finally got back to my backdoor.

While doing all this walking through the woods gave me the opportunity to scout around for deer and hopefully find some mushrooms to bring home. What the backpack was for! But I did not find any mushrooms anywhere and only seen 2 deer the whole time. In fact, I hardly seen any sign that their was very many deer in the area at all. Which shouldn't be true cause this past spring I saw something like 22 does and yearlings in a nearby field one evening.

Well anyway, having a bad club foot made the walk very tiresome and later that night I was so sore from head to the bottom of my feet. And I started cramping real bad due to having a bad back which pinches a nerve and cause me to have major leg cramps.

I've just about come to realize that I just can't get around like I use to and it's probably only gonna get worse as I get older. I'm 53 now and am already having severe body issues. What's it gonna be like when I'm 63 or 73.

So I think what I really need to do is start making my very own food plot in my backyard to attract deer and other wildlife and just hunt from my backdoor. I think I"ll plant apple and persimmon trees all over in the very back and toward the front of my backyard I'll plant some kind of food plot such as oats, highgear, turnip greens and whatever else I can fit in.

Then maybe I'll just build a high-tower right out my back door with steps leading up to it. Put electric in it so I can brew coffee and keep a small heater going. Sit in a comfortable office chair and wait for that big one to come in. Then, I wont have to worry about a dead battery anymore!
