Predator

calls. Any coyote/varmint hunters here? Thinking about buying an an electronic call, want to thin out the yotes around here.

Any info, opinions, discussion about type and brands in the $100.00 or less range appreciated.

I'm sure you could find one . It may be used but nothing wrong with that. I've seen guys use mouth calls pretty effectively too. Have to have good camo too. Do your scouting all year round. Have you ever read a magazine called "Predator Xtreme"? Lots of good info. There is no shortage of them critters. Getting permission to hunt shouldn't be too hard as long as you use good manners. Good luck and keep us posted. What kind of rifle(s) are you planning to use?

Permission to hunt will be no problem, there's my place, and several neighbor places are available to hunt.

All shots will be 100 yards or less, so probably will be shooting a .22 Hornet or a .22-250, both scoped. I've been a predator hunter for years, always used mouth calls, and wanted to try an electronic caller.

i attended a demo on day time coon calling at rondavouze , the guy really likes the ones from predator calls .com especially since you could order it and they would pre load it with all the calls you wanted it the order you want it so you could get right to hunting

he was a big advocate of more variety of calls , his unit held a hundred or 200 and ran on rechargeable batteries he kept a second set ready to go , loud , a good remote and mute button that he had about wore out were all big on his list but his unit cost 3-4 hundred but he did make the point that he had paid for it and the 22 mag rifle in his first season with his fur check from calling.

Talking

I made my own E caller for a little less than $50.00 with all parts except the cup and speaker coming from radio shack. I load a MP3 player ( a Fuze now) with calls from Varmint Al's web site and Wind rivers site.

I found the big cup laying on the side of the interstate. speaker is a SP5 I bought from a internet source who's name escape's me now.
The rear of the cup with the LED on and off switch.

It works very well for us and we get a lot of word of mouth calls to hunt coyotes on property normal closed to any other type of hunting which leads to our getting invites to hunt other type of game in the future.
Many of the land owners state they like how we respect the property by closing gates and not climbing on the fences.

I use a 220 swift, 243 in the wind and for tight wooded places a 12ga. with #4 shot
