The Hunting Instinct, My Dog

I have a Jack Russel Terrier. The hunting instinct in this dog is amazing. He takes on coon twice his size. He takes on possum. He kills rats and mice. The funniest thing is That he hunts wood ticks! I never find a tick on him in a spot that he can reach. He finds them and kills them. When I find one on his head or neck I just set it down and he attacks it. He gums and chomps until he crushes it (I can usually hear when he gets it, a little "pop". He hunts ticks on the other dog. He hunts ticks on me.

My greatest fear is that he finds a coyote. A coyote would probably kill him, and he wouldn't give up. Bears around here are dog wary so I don't worry about them.

I miss my JRTs. They really are fearless. We hunted about anything with them. Going to ground always made me a bit tense I gotta say!

I'm glad you have good luck with your dog. I just look at my dogs and feel like Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin. "I GOT A ROCK"
