Can I Go Out Tomorrow??

I have the day off tomorrow, and just thought about taking the dog out to a nearby public hunting grounds for some pheasant hunting.
Of course, it's gun deer season.... in Wisconsin.

I don't come from a family of hunters, so I don't know the etiquette or rules of these things.... this is an open area, stocked with pheasants. So.... should I try it or am I crazy?

Wear orange and go. Good luck. Well, you should check regulations (online?). Sometimes areas are restricted during deer and big game seasons.

Deer hunters could mistake your dog for a deer. Most are good enough hunters not to make a mistake but it only take one doorknob. They make blaze orange vests for dogs and I highly reccommend one.

You really, really need to check either online, or find the closest check-in or ranger station and ask. Public land has all sorts of differing guidelines from area to area, but most are not going to allow dog hunting for pheasant mixed with rifle hunters for deer. Too many chances for bad outcomes.... You will probably find one or the other allowed, or varying days, or areas separated, or something...
