Took kids camping over the weekend.
If I can figure out how to download pictures from my dughters facebook, I'll try to get them posted here. But took my two youngest daughters camping over the weekend and done a little limb linning for catfish. It was only my youngest daughter that got involved in the fishing, but we had fun catching a few cats.
The first night we took off in the canoe and set out a dozen limb lines. Baited them about 11:00 at night and then went to bed. Next morning we checked them and realized we had caught about 5 cats. Two of them had broke the hooks off. Two had been eaten on by turtles and only the heads were left on the hooks. But we did have two that was still on the hooks and alive. They both were kind of on the small size, probably only about 1 1/2 pounds to 2 pounds.
Second night, we set the lines out again. But only this time I decided I was going to stay up a while and check on them at least once before I hit the cot. Daughter couldn't stay awake so she asked me to wake her up when I got ready to check on them. I heard a lot of splashing going on, indicating we have one on, but I could not get her woke up no matter how hard I tried. So I checked on the lines by myself and had two cats on. one huge! I went on ahead and filleted them cause I didn't want the turtles to eat them up if I put them on a stringer. Then the very next morning, my duaghter woke me up so we could hurry and check the lines. Which we did and we had two more cats. Another one was huge also. Measured out 25 inches and was a flat head. This time I took a picture of my duaghter holding up the flathead catfish.
Also took a picture of her holding up a bullfrog. When we had gotten through baiting up the hooks we started catching bullfrogs that were next to the gravel bar. They were easy to catch using a flash light and our hands. None of them was really big enough to have frog legs for dinner tho. Darn!
But I'm gonna try to get the pictures posted if I can learn how.
