Tul Ammo

I believe I spelled it correctly, lol...Anyow, has anyone ever used this ammo? I needed some 223 rounds and saw a box of 20 for $4.50. So, I picked up a couple of boxes. It is made in Russia and has steel casing. Usually, cheap ammo will jam my weapon so I was just curious to see what others think about it. Thanks...

Depends on the weapon
I use it in my Saiga .223, Mini-14 and Kel tec Su-16 with no problems, but the Bushmaster AR doesn't like it

My .380 hated it. I bought it because it was cheap and I was just doing some target shooting. I was lucky to be able to get 2 rounds through before it jammed again. Never again!

Seems like the Russian stuff has their primers seated a little deeper than others.
Causes light strikes in some guns.
Russian ammo works well in guns designed to run it.

Well just give it a try. My DPMS shoots Wolf fine(functions fine) but accuracy is not great-haven't tried Tula. The cheap ammo is good to have on hand for lots of reasons assuming it functions in your particular rifle. TTT

I was going to ask about wolf ammo. I have heard it is the same as tul ammo but I don't know that to be true though.

It works "okay" in my AR. Good for pinking but will jam rather often.

Just used the last of the 200 rds I ordered. 62 grain Tul.
My AR is Rock River and it did not like the ammo very much.
Tended to have the spent shell stick every now and then and was hard to get out. My guess is the steel case doesnt swell like brass does when you shoot and allows the "gunk" to build up where the end of the shell casing sits and eventually it will jam. Clean it up and then works fine again.
My next purchase of ammo was Lake City with brass cases. the AR likes that ammo much better but shot groups are the same as with the cheaper russian stuff. Hope that helps.

Also, the steel cased stuff is usually coated with lacquer or a polymer that can build up in the chamber if you don't scrub it pretty good.
