50 degrees and I was ice fishing

Imagine that! But it isn't hard to understand. This time of the year at this latitude the sun's radiation has to pass through more atmosphere weakening it's strength. Then, the angle allows the ice to easily reflect the heat, rather than absorb it like would happen past spring equinox.
