Remington 700 .270

Loked at a couple Remingtons today, and one was a used 700 in .270, walnut stock, scope already mounted for $350
It has some marks on the barrel that I think probably came from riding in a rifle rack.
Does that price sound ok or should I keep looking?

Is it a ?DL? Black on wood stock? What scope? Supposeldy there is a trigger issue with the 700, does it have a modified tigger?

I like my Tikka T3 Ultralite in 30-06 personally. I don't like the heavy rifles any more.

Sounds like a real good deal...don't worry about the "trigger" problem-it only exists in the minds of lawyers and LSM.

Which model 700? It's probably a pretty decent price.

What's it got on it for a scope? If it's a good one, the scope alone could be worth $350. Or at least close to it.

Hey C.H., I think you may be a lucky looker. If the bore is clean and has smooth bolt function, I agree with Zant that you can hardly go wrong. I've been shooting 700s for over 50 years and the only trigger "issue" I've found is that adjustment is easy and let-off is smooth.

I sometimes load kinda' hot rounds for my 22-250 and am glad the 700 is designed to handle brass fragments and gas from a blown primer or split case. Never needed it, but I'm glad to know it covered. ...Glen

Talking

Remington 700 one of the finest rifles ever built. I have 8 in my gun safe and nary a trigger issue with any of them.
They do have an adjustable trigger, there are several web sites that walk you thru the steps to do it your self and the things you need to do to make sure it is still safe once you have completed the adjustments.
snipercountry.com
is the one I like and use.
In this area just a model 700 alone would bring that much money from a reputiable sourse.

Can't beat them! The BDL is even better. My brother has one purchased before 1964, never a problem. I had one and sold it when I went to the Army. GRRRR. I do have a pre 64 Winchester in .270. Love it. Remington is right up there with it in the older models. Don't know about the newer models.
