Thank goodness for budget cuts, there's nobody to complain to around here, and nobody complains because we all have chickens. We can run, not supposed to shoot them yet, but had a chicken with a bloody head yesterday and dog found these guys suspiciously close - we are allowed to protect our livestock year round.

Sounds like a lot of fun but I was wondering why you were shooting them before the fur was prime and they hadn't grown up yet.

to gather that he doesn't want his chickens killed! Tired of Rabbits knawing on my 'maters here, spoke to a couple of 'em and they won't do it again. I even sent a dinner invitation.

Ever had a pack of hounds AND two coons treed in your front yard? It was shoot the coons or shoot the dogs - I like the dogs a lot better. Son skinned 'em out, they weren't great, but he's got a young pack in training so the hides won't go to waste.

I will take one every once in a while during the summer when training young hounds. I hunt over in Mississippi some their kill season comes in July 1st. I also head down to Louisiana where they have no closed season

Wow, it seems strange to hear about hunting coons right now. Right about now the hounds are laying around trying not to die from heat stress! Won't be long before they start tuning up in the evenings. I hope they keep the river down this winter so the dogs can really move. I do go out with my husband, but I don't know why he wants me there. We have to tree and release out here, I think we have three coons that we hunt on the weekends! It is nothing to start a track and run it for miles. Not many trees around here and the coons got lungs and legs. Oh I know why he lets me go. He can walk with his hounds and I know the way around to head them off and have them loaded by the time he gets there. Now if he would just return the favor at the fabric shop! Hoping for cold weather, Happy Hunting!
