Groundhog removal question

A friend of mine is having trouble with a groundhog eating his squash plants. The area is fenced but there are several hole in which the groundhog is getting in. Is there a certain bait that they will go after that will work in a cage trap?

Thanks,
TH

the peanut butter may also catch you coons , or cats , hard to be discriminatory with a trap

I utilize a 6 MM for groundhogs, would like to try a .223 but that is about $600. and that will buy a lot of bullets..

Ahh, maybe some fresh squash plants.......
Sorry bout that - sadly though the only thing I've found to stop a groundhog/woodchuck is my "22" and just one well placed shot..... OK maybe two with one not so well placed........

Young groundhog is mighty good eating. The old ones are fine if you pressure cook them, but the hides aren't so easy to get off you might need to tie one end to a mighty old Oak and the other to a Stiger Panther Twin, image... http://www.unusuallocomotion.com/photo4811154.html ... of which I can park my Harry Ferguson TO 20 tractor on the rear fender. good luck

Broccoli is one of the choice baits. If using a live trap, also cover it so that it looks like a hole or cubby. I've caught two this month using no bait but a covered darkened live trap.
