I am awestruck You have every right to be proud! Your kids are excellent marksman, I am sure due to your patience and guidance. Way to go young ladies! Way to go Dad! And, way to go CMP, for sponsoring such great All-American competitions for our young people!

And, if you wouldn't mind, could you post the link to the videos of your son and daughter shooting at the other CMP event?

Excellent! You should be very proud. I love seeing girls and women enter the shooting sports. I also love to see a lot of old timers and young bucks come to realize that some of them gals can shoot! It's a playing field where everyone can compete as equals.

Jessica is kidding around with her team mate to the left. one of our new juniors to her right.
She made the mistake of closing the bolt on a loaded round before her elbows hit the mat. Things like that could get you disqualified. Video show lots of things that i don't see during actual practice or matches...its a useful tool

its worse than that,,,,she is right handed, but left eyed, so she shoots left handed...she has taught herself to take notes in the data books left handed....took her about three weeks.

but the cost of left handed rifles is off the chart.....she now shoots a cheap savage GLY that stands for small frame (ladies) left action....i had to build all the stuff to add front and rear target quality sights for it. the next next step up, which is larger is CZ lux or cz american? both of which i would have to add custom sights to....then its up to $1400 rifles....which she will be needing in about three more years.....

the left handed air rifles "target quality" start out around $1200....it pays to be right handed,,,in rifles anyway.

the ar (which has to be right handed to be a service rifle) gives her little problem except the brass tends to bounce off her scope into her face. she came off the line with a little circular burn mark one morning....the hot 223 brass had hit her on the chin and left a red burn mark...for a little girlie girl...she can be pretty gritty at times..

That was awesome! I want to adopt those two girls. I do good just to hit the paper at 100 yards, no way I could hit something 600 yards away. Awesome, awesome, awesome!

congrats , i saw that article in the cmp new , didn't realize it was your family

is high power rifle a part of your 4h or is that extra curricular, but using 4h as your cmp affiliated club, i am a 4H shooting sports leader here in Wisconsin , we have archery, air rifle , 22 rifle , air pistol ,22 pistol , shotgun and muzzle loading.
we don't offer it but i hear there is reloading but only 1 guy in the state is certified in it.

i read a little further i am guessing this wasn't a 4h club event. or maybe it was
but very cool and really cool that that Hodges 22 experience carried over that well to be on paper in 2 rounds at 600 yards

high power is in no way associated with 4-H. So it is extra curricular to 4-H. CMP rimfire sporter matches are part of 4-H (although most clubs in virginia don't seem to want it as part. IT is 1/3 of the 4-H National Match. I suspect they don't want it because we are pretty good at it. winning it for the last three years. CMP is also very supportive of 22 and air rifle..they run some of the best air rifle camps in the nation.

I think the trend is to NOT use reloads in 4-H for legal/exposure reasons. that would apply to 4-H shotgun since neither center fire rifle nor pistol is sanctioned by 4-H.

i kinda think that any trigger control and sight picture time will help with all trigger control and sight picture so 10 meter is the same as 600 yard if the shooter has the confidence or faith in the coach to make the change without getting nervy...

shooting HP has given our juniors confidence to step up to any firing line, shoot and make sight adjustments without the thought of looking around for help from anyone...i see some juniors from other clubs look around to their parents or coach after each shot...i feel sorry for them their parents and coaches are (for the most part) crippling them. I'm a firm believer that you get from kids what you expect from kids. I have great kids in our little 4-h club, they have never let me down and usually surprise me. That kid to the left of Jessica in the rim fire event only had about 4 hours of experience in 22 rifle target shooting. That guy placed seventh...anyway the shooting sports are a great tool for helping me grow my kids.

Great! We will see more of what they can accomplish as they get older and get the expensive rifles like some of the other shooters! Fantastic!!

Super, super!!! You have a right to be proud. Congrats to the girls. The Swede rifle and cartridge are a fine combination for low recoil, power, and ranging ability. What sort of side mount do you have on that Swede? TTT

Thanks AA for the link. That is a nice looking mount and appears to be well made. Like everything else=to dance you gots to pay the fiddler. Too bad they aren't made for the standard American 1" tube diameter. TTT

It comes with metal semi-circular shims so it will work with 1 inch tube....which the K-4 weaver is....

and i have to admit....the mount is well made....
