Question about tree disease / infestation

This might be a dumb question...and I think I know the answer, but I'd like to get some confirmation from someone who knows...

Do things that attack trees, say emerald ash borer, or any other kind of grubs worms, etc. die or abandon wood after it's been dried stacked for two years? My son-in-law has about four cords of walnut that he had cut down two years ago...it had some kind of grub living in it. I helped split the stuff. It's been stacked and dried for two years now, and since Ohio is now entirely under quarantine, I can legally move it to my place where I burn a lot of wood. I just don't want to transport it where it could infect other walnut or hardwood trees if there were still grubs living in it. Any advice would be appreciated.

All the wood we have ever split w/ buggies in it we would leave out in the open unstacked for a couple weeks. The critters usually leave it. Can or could you see the grubs after splitting? Try to examinine or split a few pieces even smaller to see what you can see!!

Insects which spend their larval stage as grubs usually complete their cycle within 2 or 3 years. If your wood had grubs 2 years ago, they would probably have pupated and emerged as adults already.
