A little piebald buck.

Last weekend I was driving home and I swore I saw a white deer way on the other side of a field. I figured my eyes were playing tricks on me since I didn;t really stop and look. Then this weekend I drive by the same field and this little buck is standing in the field that is directly across the highway. Maybe I did see a white deer after all.

They arent common most places but a few are around. We had a whole herd of albino deer near where I grew up but local Daniel Boone wanna be's finaly poached them all. They are neat to watch and see but shouldnt be protected as they are a mutation or whoops.

I have seen a few around here that have more white than brown.I saw a full albino doe a guy killed about fifteen miles from here a few years ago.Solid white with pink eyes.I also had a birddog point an albino fawn once, when I was quail hunting.

One piebald doe went on to live another hunting season because she was piebald. Had her in my scope and had to take a second look to make certain it wasn't a Guernsey heifer. Just as I was ready a second time, she took off and I never got off a shot.

I've heard of the piebald & albino deer but have never seen any around here before.

Had to look to see where you lived. At one time, there were quite a few white deer in the Upper Peninsula and there still seems to be some there. When Frank Lloyd Wright wanted to introduce deer to Taliesin in the late 1940s, he obtained 22 of them from somewhere around Iron River. There was white in the genes as a number of white deer showed up in the 1950s and 1960s. No albino deer were ever officially proven. Every one of them had normal eyes. Eventually the white genes became entirely recessive and were gone by the 1980s and not seen in that area since. Piebalds, however, still show up now and then but with most of the white in the front half of the deer, opposite of what the OP has depicted.
