Ruger P97dc .45

Anyone have firsthand experience with this pistol? Likes or dislikes?

Our nephew has a P97, not sure if it has a dc on it though
I shot it some, and I liked it.
It fit my big hands and the recoil wasn't bad at all.

The dc indicates it has the de-cocking lever on the side. Lets you lower the hammer without using your thumb. It felt good in hand.

Yeah, the one I shot had that.
Nice shooting gun, maybe a little big if you plan on carrying it, but a darn fun shooter.

I have the P94 and it is one of my favorates. I have large hands and it fits me very well. I also have a 1911 in .45, but would rather have something double action that I can decock with a round in the chamber.

i like the p series rugers , they came in DC de cocking and mandual safty both de-cock but the manual safty stays down blocking the spring loaded firing pin and disconecting the trigger

the DC decocks then springs back to double action mode the triger does not disconect and the gun is carried in a double action mode

the differenc in safties was for personal choice and some departments wanted them one way others the other

the manual safty can be caried in double action mode by pushing the lever back up , and i think that is what is in current production now

both are actualy double first shot unless you pull the hammer back then single action after that untill you decock

not to be confused with a DAO doubel action only like the keltech pf9 or a hamemerles revolver or soem of the bobed hammer double action only vairients made of many pistols

now we have glocks used in most police departments , they have no external hammer and are a partial reset safty action not truly a double or single action but a high bread that requires a slide cycle to reset the trigger like a single action but don't move the hammer into a fully cocked position either

it does make every trigger pull the same but less weight than a full double action pull.
