Our first flounder gigging attempt

We were great entertainment for the guys drinking on the next dock .

My son and I decide to try taking the kayaks out in the marsh/sound
with a flood light in a zip lock as our light. My son duct tapes the gig to his paddle to be able to carry it. We couldn't see much when the light was bright and it started dimming after 5 minutes...

The guys next door felt sorry for us and offered to take us out but they were
sloppy drunk and I decided I did not want to be around them and a flounder gig !!

We give up but then I decide at 4 am that I can't sleep and it is
low tide so I try to jump in the kayak "just to check the edge" I tip over getting in the kayak and can't get the water out of it to get back in the kayak. I'm okay because the water is 2 feet but I end up leaving the kayak at the dock because I can't get the water out of it..

I was sinking a foot down in the silt/mud thinking "if I cut my leg on an oyster" at least I have a cool story behind it"

We have a lot to learn but being out there at night was addicting ..I am ready to go back and try again with a better light.

be careful, it's summer and the gators will come checkout strange splashy sounds.
