Been Busy

Been Busy - The Great Outdoors

Had the Noodles made up put Lines on.On the Orange ones I have two Hooks and fixed where I can either tie them to weights or a Limb. The Yellow ones are just for Floating.

Not going to use them all at once.

Got a Question would maybe a Trotline with a number of Hooks be better at times causing a Feeding Frenzy with more Bait in the area?

Now need water to go down, get some Bait and get the Spawn over.

Oh I've used them before and did well.

Are you still down South America? I was thinking of you last Sunday at Church.

Yes, I am in South America. I spent most of 2009 in the States, and returned to Suriname in November.

Rock those noodles work and are popular but if you fishing a river etc a heavy current can snag them up and pull them down. Pond or lake you'll like them. We still use jugs, old fashioned I guess and cheap, lol. We prefer trotlines to jugs, little more dangerous though. Most of our trotlines are shorter now 5 -15 or so hooks. If we want a longer one we can tie 2 or 3 together. Bankpoles are our other weapon, limblines are illegal here now. I think the trotline does make a bigger slick or chum area due to more bait being in the area as opposed to a single or double hook jug/pole etc. You will use more bait that way too though. Pros and cons to both methods. Trotlines or at least our trotlines are targeted more for eater channels and in some areas eater blues. On occasion I do set up 5-10 hook throw/trotlines out for bullheads. On rare occasions we'll set a short 5-10 hook trotline for flatheads with big 5/0+ hooks and live bait but 99% of the time we set for flatheads with our bankpoles. We're getting ready to go do some rod and reeling in a few hours. Flatheads are in the hollows spawning. Channel and blues are biting but the water is really high. What kind of bait you using Rock? Shad/cutbait is one of our better baits for trotlines. If we can get enough crawdads they are awesome. Shadheads are one of my favorites, just hook them thru the eyes and they stay on great and the big eyes draw some cats.

Yea I made up two 10 Hook Trot Lines too.My Noodles are going to be put out in Coves on the Lakes or Slow River.I only have a Small 12 Foot Jon so I can't get where it gets too wild.

I'll Bait with what ever I can Perch,Shad,Hot Dogs,Cheese it don't matter.I have a Throw Net tried to get my wife to let me get a Sein but not yet

Those asian carp cut up are good bait too if your unlucky enough to have them there. I always had trouble running a seine alone, good luck on talking the missus into letting you get one. Cast nets work a little easier alone.

Ok speaking of Carp I have some Common Carp cleanings in my Freezer that I'm using for Crawdad Traps I'm thinking of using some for Catfish Bait I'm thinking it will work.

I'm pretty good with Cast Net but my wife has helped me with Seine before if she has time I'll have her help put out Lines.
