I am interested in getting books and information about outdoor survival and was hoping you folks would pass on some recomendations.

Go to Amazon and click on "Books" and type in "Outdoor Survival" in the search. They have several pages of books. One of my favorites is on page 4, I think. It's The Complete Book of Outdoor Survival by J. Wayne Fears. There's one new copy on there some idiot wants $1600

for, but there's some other copies in the $10 range.

The U.S. Army survival manual is also a good one to have.
