Cool video, and a much-needed effort in much of the country. Interesting comments, too....the .223 wouldn't be my first choice for hogs, but it didn't occur to me that shooting from above, the spine is way more vulnerable, and the armor plate on the shoulder ain't so much of an issue. Until I get a chopper ride, I think I'll stick with my .44 mag and .30-06.

Those things are a menace here. The man I buy hay from just a coupla' miles down the road recently trapped 27 in the period of several days....woulda' trapped moere, but a big 'un got into one of his three traps and tore it apart like it was made of popsicle sticks. Sounds like alot of hogs, but it's a drop in the bucket, and they're wrecking his hay fields.

man i would love to do that , i think they use the 223 ar15 because it is controlable for multiple shots , high capacity, short for handling in a chopper , quick point of aim and they are getting fairly close 40 yards or less so i really don't think it's that big of a deal the probably punch right thry anyway from the blood mist in some of the shots it looks that way

i would be interested if they were using good sp or hp ammo or just bulk pack fmj

now that would be a great way to feed the hungry , while making the most of black hawk helicopter pilot training dollars

pilots get map of earth training and training for door gunners , then just go back and toss the pigs in some cargo trays mounted to the skids could even use a medivac pilot to follow with the meat chopper think about several thousand pounds a day in pork for food pantries. not sure about TX but food pantries around here are getting streched thin.

I was JOKING. If you'll look at the county where the hunt took place, Nueces, that's the county where I live. I'm well aware of the destruction they cause.

And, I thought that was some pretty good shooting from whomever was in the chopper. Hitting a running, weaving hog from a flying chopper isn't, I suspect, all that easy although I've never had the opportunity to do it.

I read an article a few years ago about a crew that did that at Ft. Riley. The hogs had taken up residence on the live practice range that is unsafe for foot traffic. They were using shotguns with buckshot and got around 250 that day, with only a dent in the herd.

they got all stupid when we did wolf control from choppers

in Alaska. The "wolf control" does wonders when the hooved herd animals, mainly caribou are in very low numbers, and it is necessary. The cullers used M-60 machine guns, real door gunnery. It was complicated by low temperatures, but it worked.

I think taking hogs by chopper or metal corrals would be a great boon for food banks.

From what I can see they are one heckuva pest problem.
