Saw a HUGE bobcat today

I was traveling down a highway today to get my kids in the next town over from the grandparents and saw something walking across the road on a hill. Got closer and slowed down to look where it had gone into the brush and it was a huge bobcat, biggest I've ever seen. Told the FIL and he said some guy he plays poker with has seen it several times and estimates it weighs between 30 and 35 pounds(huge for this area). The guy wants someone to set a trap for it so he can have it mounted...I know just the person to do it

I wouldn't want it trapped Nicole. Predators are required to have a healthy ecosystem. Kill that bobcat and the mice/rat/groundsquirrel population in your area will explode.

We also have a BIG bobcat in our area. The first time I saw it I thought it was a mountain lion. But, I've watched it hunt just 100 yards from my cabin, and see that it wants the groundsquirrels that kill my fruit trees. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Unless you know it's killing your chickens or something else, I would leave it be.

Chickens and calves close by(it's so big I bet it could bring one down) and the owner wants it trapped. Bobcats are hard to get, we got 4 last year.

Some of those big males in winter coat can look like a rectangle walking along.

I knew a guy with a mounted bobcat sitting at the top of his stairs. You walk up, look around the railing, and it is staring you in the face. Always good for a heart attack.

There is a guy in Texas who has a specialty of live trapping bobcats using a rooster in a cage inside the trap for bait. He selects for vocal roosters who get lonesome and talk all day.

If you are seeing them in the daylight you have more then you think. When trapping location, location, location. and don't forget that its just a cat.

Southern...Greenfield here. Some idiot was bragging to the man that he had gutshot a bobcat while roadhunting the other night and he couldn't find it. Man, it had better not have been this bobcat! And I was personally very hacked off that he tried to kill it in the first place!
