Grandson's first deer

Grandson's first deer - The Great Outdoors

DH took him on the youth hunt this past weekend and they were not in the woods 20 minutes when Cody got this deer. It is actually his second one, he got one 2 years ago when hunting with other family members and the grown ups that took him did nothing with the meat.

I was so happy when DH decided it was time to teach him the right way to do things. Cody did help skin and quarter the doe and we soaked in in salted ice water for 2 days then DH and his friend cut the deer up for Cody. He wanted to help but had school.

I will be making jerky for them today and most likely have a nice roast for supper.
