I've got a real sore shoulder....

....but, I ain't complainin'! I finally got to do some target practice with my collection of USGI rifles. I built a 100-yard range thru the woods a month or so ago and never had the time to really use it until yesterday. I am sure that the neighbors for miles around thought it was the 4th of July.

Hey, nice collection.
It's nice to have your own range, especially when you really want to burn some powder.
Got a couple of scopes to sight in, but been kinda busy.
Congrats.

CF,

Has to be the fault of those WWI bolt actions. It sure couldn't be from those semi-autos. Avoid the pain and send them to me.

You can tell what someone thinks by reading the bumper stickers on their car. You can also tell if they think at all.

Shooting surplus ammo (~30 years old) while standing, about 2 or so MOA.

One of these would also be a good addition.

Well, maybe I'm using the term "MOA"...or calculating MOA....incorrectly. What I can shoot standing, without a bench rest or tripod, at a target 100 yards away is 4 to 6 inch groups.

Let's say I shoot 8 rounds out of a Garand. One or two rounds may be way out of the group....I ignore those and consider them "outliers." I take the radius of the remaining rounds and call that my MOA at 100 yds. Is that correct? Should I be using the diameter of the group?

I really don't believe that I'm that great a marksman.

Best way to measure groups is center to center of holes....Try and remember which one was a flyer.....Though I have rifles capable of 1.5" at 200yds all day long, the REALITY is anything that groups 3" or under at 100yds is more than accurate enough...and will feed you no problemo or protect you..

Offhand, a 4 to 6 inch group from those rifles is what I'd call "pretty ----ed good"! A 2 MOA would be outstanding!

I'd love eliminating the flyers too! lol!

Nice guns CF!

Groups should be measured center to center of the farthest shots

"MOA" ( Minute of Angle) is 1" at 100 yds
