Anyone here gold prospecting?

Just curious to know if anyone out there is doing any prospecting for placer gold. If so, do you have plans for homemade equipment?

there are several places you can find plans www.gpaa.com is a good place to start as well as www.icmj.com they will lead you to other places to look as well, what kind of equipment are you looking for, highbanker, drywasher, sluice box
also you might want to check out the ldma and gpaa outing they are a great place to meet other prospectors

Thanks jnh for posting those sites. I saw this thread and was curious since it is something I know nothing about and yet found it compelling. If either you or piddler have any thoughts, comments or general take on the topic a post here would be appreciated. TIA and all the best to both of you.

Been gold prospecting for near on thirty years (Canada and Australia)

Good way to get out in the bush and enjoy the outdoors and get paid for it.

I normally do my prospecting alone, but this last time I had a friend along. Good thing that I did as we had a encounter with a griz and I now have a "New" right knee!!!

If he had not been there to drive my truck back out of the bush, god knows what would have happened!!!

One of your best friends out here is a

short barrelled 12 Ga, pump or double. Dogs arent the best idea, unless well trained. Best to do anything with a partner..........

Good Luck,

DG
