Gonna Get My New Boat

Finally found someone selling a FOLDCAT 375 for a better than reasonable price. Here is a link:

http://www.seaeagle.com/FoldCat.aspx

This boat is plenty stable to use for fishing local rivers, lakes, and bays on the Texas Coast. On the appropriate day, I would venture to take it out the channel and into the Gulf (just a wee bit offshore). My only addition will be a couple of Mantis chair mounted Bimini sun shades.

Congrats on the new "hole in the water".
(boat= Hole in the water surrounded by wood, fiber glass, Alum, or fabric, that you pour money into.)

I don't know if I would go out into the ocean though, but thats just me, I won't take my flat bottomed, 17 ft duck boat out on Lake Michigan.
Like the top, bet it gets hot out there in the summer.

P.S. I have another duck boat, belonged to my BIL, who passed, for sale if there is anyone close interested. PM me.
!7 ft Alum Mirror-craft, modified Jon boat, w/ 40 hp motor and trailer.

If you looked at the link you will notice that the pontoon boat is wide (4 feet 6 inches) and technically has no bottom. Between the pontoons is a "deck" that is made from the same fabric as the pontoons. This "deck" is open at the front and the back so there is no way to swamp the boat. It is designed also to be so stable that I can (at 260 pounds) stand on one of the pontoons and have no chance of lifting the other pontoon out of the water. Since I can't swamp nor capsize it, it would be almost impossible to sink it, so it should be safe. I would only worry about not getting the motor started to keep it off of any rocks. Fully loaded it also only drafts about 4-5 inches. It will go into places in the shallow bays that other boats won't - however it means you have to watch the outgoing tide like a hawk - otherwise you may have to walk.

I wouldn't take it out in to the ocean, but the Gulf of Mexico can get very calm. I doubt I would take it out into the Pacific or Atlantic. As a retired Navy Officer, I have ultimate respect for the BIG WATER.

Picked up the "new" boat and its even nicer than I had hoped. Watch out fish - I can chase you wherever you hide.

I've looked at these many times but never pulled the trigger. I would be very interested in an update once you've had it in the water.
