Animal Tracks

I saw a set of tracks on a frozen lake. The snow had melted enough that you couldn't make out the actual print, but the trail pattern was something that I have never seen before (not that that means anything!).

The prints were in groups of THREE. Each group was about a foot long and six inches apart from one another. The individual prints were 3 or 4 inches in diameter and round (remember, the snow had been melting). There were two prints on one side and one on the other, placed inbetween but not in line with the other two prints.

The tracks came from the woods, went out on the lake, for about 25 feet and circled back around to land. The came from an area of cattails.

I tried looking it up on the interweb, but only could find individual prints which didn't help because, like I said, I couldn't see the individual print pattern. Any ideas? Or any good websites that show animal track trails, not just the individual prints?

Thanks!

I have noticed that when my beagle is at a fast clip but not full out running,
Tracks are like a 12* angle in set of 3, Then 1 odd one,
No snow here so I cant show you.
