Already pulling in the big ones down here Rock, come go fishing with me. The Speckled Trout, the Redfish and the Flounder have been biting good. Girls got me a real nice new heavy duty salt water pole and reel for Christmas. Big old Mr. Redfish is going to be in for a rude awakening tomorrow when he don't pop the line or bend the rod on this new thing. Going out at daylight in the morning to drown a few dozen live shrimp, and drown a few turkey necks in the crab traps too. Moon getting fuller, and so are the crabs. Girls filled almost a 5 gallon bucket full of crabs Saturday when I took them crabbing. The girls sure do love the water. I just wish they would stop catch more fish than me.

Their Spoonbill guys have been giving me better ideas on catching them.Said they usually catch around 200 a season.

Ed I might have to take you up on that.I was thinking of going to Louisiana.Talked to some Sunday that had just come from there.Fishing is good just still a mess.

I went and checked out a nice pier to fish off of this morning at one of the state parks right on the Mobile Bay. The crabs went plum crazy over turkey necks in the traps today. Then the big redfish and flounder went to biting on dead shrimp about 11 this morning. No one on the pier but myself and 2 other older gentlemen. We couldn't keep up with pulling the fish out of the water. I ended up giving them about half the crabs I had caught. You can bet I will be sitting there again in the morning watching the sun come up.

Yes it was. But I can bet you today wasn't. LOL Boiled up the crabs I caught yesterday, last night. Lord the meat in them big rascals was sweet. They were fine eating crabs.

Lots of fish being caught by every one today, but they were all tiny sheepsheads and small white trout. None of them keepers. I did manage to catch the largest fish out of every one today. Was bottom fishing with a dead shrimp, pole bobbed a few times then ran straight at the boat. Knew I had a fish. Reeled in the slack real fast and then set the hook. It was on then. He tried running, and I set the hook a second time to make sure he was going to get caught. Was a big fish. Only problem was that big fish didn't know he was hung on the new heavy duty salt water rod and reel the girls got me for Christmas. Unless it's a big shark the line ain't going to pop. That fish ran me all over the boat. I just knew I had me a huge redfish on the line. Finally got him to the side of the boat and got him to surface, and it was one of them sorry dang alligator gars. Got him in the boat, put the scales on him, and he weighed almost 27 pounds. He's all cut up into little chunks, and will be good cut bait for the crab traps now. But hey, we had a ball fishing even though we didn't catch any keepers.

And folks, get them kids out from in front of their video games and take them fishing with you. I'm so proud my girls love to go fishing with me. We always have such a great time. They have begged me the past 2 days to let them play hooky from school to go fishing.

Still sounds like a pretty nice day to me Ed. You spent time with the girls doing something you all really enjoy. How much better can it get? Except for a bunch of keepers of course. At least you've got a bunch of crab bait.
